I'm going to try and do a little experimenting with maps. This way after I describe a space you can get some actual logistics out of it, like where things are placed, what are the dimensions, etc etc.
We're going try this a little like Battleship in that I've put numbers and letters into a grid around the map. At the start of combat, I'll state where everyone is along the lines of B6 or K17. Then I'll also place where the enemies are. As you all take your moves, please include what square you land in at the end of your turn. This will perfectly explain whether or not people are flanking, where opportunity attacks are coming from, and so on.
So in anticipation of next sesh, here's the map of the north wing. Familiarize yourself a few moments with the grid system. When eventually you do enter these various rooms, I'll have new maps including predominant room features like pits or furniture or fire. In the future, if I have time I'll design more maps so we can get a more accurate fog of war, but for now just sort of go with the idea you don't know whats beyond the doors hehe.
I have Photoshop and it's very easy to do layers, so if you guys don't mind a little wait between turns, I can refresh the map with tokens of enemies and where you guys are round per round. I know this is a ghetto version of MapTools, but until I figure out port forwarding this will have to do.
